About Helen Mehl

After living and painting in Asia, Latin America, Europe and Hawaii, painter Helen Mehl is convinced that the land on which we walk profoundly affects the way we think, perceive and express ourselves. Helen’s paintings express appreciation and wonder for diverse cultures and natural life.

Because of Helen’s interest in wellness and Feng Shui, her work is imbued with energy, vitality and balance. Saturated color, layering, texture, strong design and potent symbols are featured in Helen’s paintings. Collectors comment that her paintings contribute to the feeling of well-being and warmth in their homes and workplaces.

Helen received her Master of Arts degree at San Jose State University, after receiving a B.A. degree from Stanford University in history and art. She has studied with nationally known painters like Robert E.Wood, Jan Kunz, Stephen Quiller, Carole Barnes and Kevin MacPherson. Helen taught art on the elementary and secondary level in California, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. She has been painting and teaching art privately for 19 years.

Helen’s paintings have been shown in numerous solo shows in California and Hawaii, and in many national and local group shows. Her works are in private collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

Helen lives with her husband in Sonoma, CA.
